Burris on Blago: Before…and after

December 31, 2008

My how the wanna be senator Burris does wax poetic in expressing his dual feeling regarding Gov. Blago.  I guess this is another example of against him before he was with him.

Unfortunately, there is nothing shocking about this since it typifies the normal American politician.

Nothing to do about nothing

December 31, 2008

This post is only dedicated to my best friend who is leaving me to go overseas and live in London.  I am so happy that his dream is being realized.  I am equally sadden that we will no longer share the dark side, a knowing glance, an informative smile or a burst of trivia song expressing a multitude of meaning.

To my best bud I wish him well and that all that his move can grant him will be reached.  Though I am both sadden and happy I can only say you go dude and knock them dead.  We stay in contact via email and make the best of that.  No it will never replace the spontaneous hugs or glances and smiles but will have to be enough.  Especially until I get up off my butt and go and see him in London.

If ever two people were destined to be soulmates and forever friends that would be me and my very perfect buddy, Michael.

Much love and success to my special friend Michael.

Signing off Music: Alicia Keys – No One

December 31, 2008

For some reason, I had this song on my mind all day and when I took my girls out to eat for dinner this was one of the songs that was playing on the speaker system.

I knew then that this would be my signing out song.   Smooth, easy, refreshing, and filled with soul.  Doesn’t hurt that she’s one fine babe to look at.

Last Post of the Night: Paul Krugman on the Stimulus Package

December 31, 2008

Let’s take a minute and pause over the implications of Paul Krugman’s words.  So certain Republicans are planning to fight the stimulus package proposed by President Obama.  The fact that the RNC is showing that they are being childish at best, as they try to re-establish themselves is insulting enough.  They have no strategy or point to oppose the stimulus but want to gain some type of credibility?

My question is very simple. Why are these azz holes playing with real peoples lives over their failed ideology and principles?

What makes it worst is that even the Republican Governors are playing games as well.  We selected these people because of what exactly?

SHOCKER: John Bolton Would Invade Iran Now!

December 31, 2008

johnbolton_01Here’s a shocker.   JOHN BOLTON would attack Iran now. Why do we have to keep listening to this warmonger?  Oh, right he’s on Fox Fake News. Who else would give cause for America to enter a third war without taking into account America’s lack of money (economic meltdown) and troops (serious shortage) that is currently going on?

That’s right this is America, let’s just keep fighting everyone we don’t like.  There’s no need for diplomacy.  Let’s just pretend we can storm troop into Iran and fight them and take control.  Did I say Iran or did I mean Iraq?

Hm…I think I’ve seen this story played out before and it didn’t work out too well.   Now that Israel is considering a cease fire where do we go from here? Do we make some bogus CIA report, lying about Iran’s capabilities, take it to congress and the UN and declare war on Iran?  Then look back 5 years from now after 10 or 20 thousands Americans has been killed along with millions of innocent citizens to confront the fact that the war was a lie?

John Bolton’s kind of stupid needs to be stopped.  It is getting tiresome to listen to people living in bubbles.  Can somebody just get a pin and be done with this nonsense?

The Secret Strategy Behind Blagojevich’s Decision to Pick Roland Burris

December 31, 2008

The Blagojevich (“Blago”) saga continues to rage. Blago has turned into being the media’s story of the century. Never mine if the over playing of the

S. Whiplash

S. Whiplash

subject has some of us ready to shoot our TVs.

Now we are being presented with a strategy as to why Blago did what he did  –  picked someone to fill President-Elect Obama’s senate seat, Roland Burris.  Even after his own lawyer, Ed Genson,  said he would not being appointing any one.  I guess he lied.  Blago has now earned his place in history, right along with that dastardly villain S. Whiplash of Dudley Do Right.

The media will now be on the look out for all contributions made by Burris to Gov. Blago.  The media will tie the story up into a neat package of not one criminal but possibly two.  Hm… I’m sure most of the articles will come with the sinister insinuation of possible criminal activity, whether true or false.

Rod Blagojevich’s choice to fill Barack Obama’s Senate seat, Roland Burris, helped raise money for the governor on multiple occasions. [Read this nonsense here]

There’s sure to be room for a little racial tension as well; especially, since Burris is Black.

In a wild press conference where Gov. Rod Blagojevich introduced Roland Burris as the Senate-appointee to replace Barack Obama, congressman Bobby Rush came to the lectern and firmly offered a racial basis for seeing through the appointment. [Read more on this nonsense here]

None of the current chatter has made it easier for me to generate any real outrage, righteous or otherwise, over Balgo’s deceit.  I’ve become complacent over politicians being corrupt.  It did not faze the media, or me, when Ted Stevens got convicted and continued to run for his senate seat, why would we now get in a tizzy over Blago? It all seems par for the course of American politics.

TVA Coal Ash Sampling Trip

December 31, 2008

Just as can be expected, there is little being done to clean up the mess of the coal spillage in TN by the coal company. Why do we even bother to have the EPA? What is the point of such an agency? To protect the private investors of private companies?

That the city had the nerve to tell people that the water was safe is what is so disgusting. How in the hell can water that is filled with millions of pounds of toxic waste be deemed safe by any stretch of the imagination?

Of course now they are reporting that the water is not safe a full week later. The crap our current administration gets away with is absolutely scandalous and would make for a great movie if it wasn’t so real.

Rod Blagojevich and Roland Burris press conference

December 30, 2008

All afternoon this was the news. I have listen to every pundit under the sun weight in over their opinion regarding Blagojevich supposedly bold move of naming someone to take over President Obama’s senate seat.

I am not getting the over exaggeration of this not so bold move. The man is the governor. What did they expect? I barely heard this type of outcry when Ted Stevens was found guilty and still ran for a senate seat. What’s up with that?

If you’re a republican the world knows your a crook and its okay? If you’re a democrat you must be above reproach? WTF! It is very easy to get tired of the news reporting less than a big deal as if it was something on par with a earth quake.

Now That The Party’s Over…The Knives Can Come Out

December 30, 2008
An American Tradegy

An American Tragedy

Now that Bush is leaving office the Republicans are waiting to collectively stab him and bring an abrupt end to his reign of terror, somewhat like the tragedy that befell Caesar.  Of course Bush’s presidency was a complete failure and, in my opinion, he and his inner circle deserve some serious R&R in ADX maximum security prison.

It can not go unnoticed how utterly silent the GOP was while Bush was busy destroying our country. There was no drafting of a resolution by the RNC to show their displeasure over Bush’s mangling of the constitution, nor were their any knives being hidden in robes over such important issues as the Iraq war, the disaster of Katrina, GITMO, wiretapping, foreign policy, banking bailout, or the economic meltdown.   But now, with Bush having barely 20 some days left in office we are being besieged with remarks regarding Bush’s incompetency and failures?  There seems to be a disconnect going on with the RNC.  Bush did not end his presidency by becoming incompetent — he started off that way.  Thus were is the news in any of this outcry?

Republican Party officials say they will try next month to pass a resolution accusing President Bush and congressional Republican leaders of embracing “socialism,” underscoring deep dissension within the party at the end of Mr. Bush’s administration. [Read the full article here]

But Bush’s knife welders did not stop with just drafting a resolution.  We now have town criers coming out of the wood work.  It’s almost as if the RNC made a secret pact to come out of the closet (so to speak) and give testimony to what they thought would put them in good light with the American people.  Delusional?  Yes.  Who can easily forgive the party with the ideology that destroyed our economy?

“Katrina to me was the tipping point,” Matthew Dowd, Bush’s pollster and chief strategist for the 2004 presidential campaign, told Vanity Fair magazine. “The president broke his bond with the public. Once that bond was broken, he no longer had the capacity to talk to the American public. State of the Union addresses? It didn’t matter. Legislative initiatives? It didn’t matter. P.R.? It didn’t matter. Travel? It didn’t matter.”   [Read the full article here]

How insightful.  Too bad the American people had already known of Bush’s ineffectiveness way before Katrina happened.  Katrina was only the icing; especially, since that cake had been baked a long time ago.

Lawrence Wilkerson, top aide and later chief of staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell, said that as a new president, Bush was like Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 GOP vice president nominee whom critics said lacked knowledge about foreign affairs. When Bush first came into office, he was surrounded by experienced advisers like Vice President Dick Cheney and Powell, who Wilkerson said ended up playing damage control for the president.

More profound insight.  Once again useless information to a public that had already become completely aware of Bush’s ineptitude. Bush received all this dated criticism within a 24 hour span.  Is there a secret memo going out called cover yourself and stab Bush as quick as you can?  Sorry Bush but the only thing you can say to your previously loyal base is Et Tu Brutus?

Zbigniew Insults Scarborough: ‘You’re So Superficial It’s Embarrassing’

December 30, 2008

Joe Scarborough received the smack down he so justly deserved.  I am so utterly tired of his yelping over not blaming Bush.  Yes, why don’t we just tell the truth.  Our current President was so ineffective and inept that we should not blame him for the failures of the last 8 years.  Let’s blame Joe Scarborough, since he seems to be an idiot too.

Gordon Johndroe on Bush’s plans to deal with Middle East crisis

December 30, 2008

Its good to know that our tax dollars are at work where Bush is concerned. While Israel and Hamas is in the middle of a very destructive heated war over control, Bush will be riding his bike and continuing on his vacation.

Yet, I have to listen to the news tell me how President Obama keeps saying there is only one president at a time and do so as a cop out?

Is it possible to get a refund? I want every nickle that I gave, via my taxes, from Bush for a job not done at all and continue to be not done.

Reporter: Mr President-Elect, Gordon Brown has called for a ceasefire and access for aid to Gaza. Do you agree the Israelis should now cease their assault?

O: Prime Minister Brown has my greatest respect, he’s a strong friend and ally. However, the US only has one President at a time so I can only urge you to ask President Bush that question.

See how it would work? That would put the focus of the American media back on Bush, who has refused to cut short his final vacation to help deal with the crisis. [Read the full post here]

It wouldn’t be funny if someone called me ‘Tamron Hall the magic negro anchor lady.’

December 30, 2008

For once the News has their eye on the ball.

Sorry Kate Obenshain but you are so full of sh#t with your assessment. The song, Magic Negro, was created by a conservative and played by a racist conservative.  The fact that the words ‘Magic Negro’ appeared in an article is almost beside the point.  That’s like saying because I saw a movie where some one committed murder and then went out and killed someone it’s the movie’s fault.

To pretend that the song was created to talk about an absurdity in regards to saying President Obama was not black enough is the height of stupidity. Rush Limbaugh, since I have no intention of defending his loud racist azz, plays that song to vent and promote his racist position.

I will give Obenshain credit though. She was right when she said we did not need our politicians dealing in such petty nonsense and that they should be out their articulating a clear message.

Sign Out Song: I Love Him Like I Do

December 30, 2008

Okay tonight’s selection is me showing my Christian side.  I really loved this song and found it inspirational and uplifting, as well as hot and current with today’s generation.  It is also absent of all hate.  God in this song is just someone that loves us without conditions.  Amazing, we do not have to be racist or bigots to be loved.  That’s a God I can get down with.  I hope you all enjoy it as well.  Good night

Last Post of the Night: Bristol Palin Gives Birth

December 30, 2008

bristol-babyI thought to end the night I would report non-news that still slightly irritate me.  Why?  Bristol’s mother won conservative of the year award for her American values!  Trust me this having nothing to do with an underage person having a baby.  In America?  So what.  I really hope Bristol and and her baby are doing fine and congrats.  Having babies is hard work.

I digress, It’s being reported that Bristol Palin gave birth to a son who weighted 7 pounds 4 ozs.

We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”

The baby’s name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, according to Jones.

And so the issue of birth control still is not a topic of discussion while uneducated teens have babies.

Bristol is taking correspondence courses to obtain her high school diploma. The couple has been together for three years. [Read full post here]

You know what?  I’ll stick with my mom’s values.  She had a problem with me be uneducated as a young adult and not having protection.  Guess what?  It worked.  My mom is very religious and certain conversations are taboo.  I can not dare speak about prayer being removed from public schools with out setting her off.  But, she was a realist and did not cater to absolute stupid.

Teenagers who pledge to remain virgins until marriage are just as likely to have premarital sex as those who do not promise abstinence and are significantly less likely to use condoms and other forms of birth control when they do, according to a study released today.

The new analysis of data from a large federal survey found that more than half of youths became sexually active before marriage regardless of whether they had taken a “virginity pledge,” but that the percentage who took precautions against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases was 10 points lower for pledgers than for non-pledgers.  [Read full post here]

I am so glad that I do not cater to the pledge of ridiculous that is currently having no impact what so ever on curbing teenage pregnancies.  Yes, I am one of  those bold moms that believe in protecting their daughters from STDs and AIDs/HIV, as well as unwanted pregnancies.  I speak freely about birth control.  My problem is that I am not adjusting to the whole concept that its okay if you are a conservative to allow your child to be so ignorant about protecting her/his self.

Forgive me for being a real mom with real American values (non-BS-conservative current values).  Pro-life only works if you are prepared to make sure life is created from real choice and not ignorance!

Enough said.

Now Here’s a News Title That Screams We’re Screwed!

December 30, 2008

I read the article earlier, but it’s the title that says it all:

GOP Braces For Soul-Searching After Racist Song Scandal

If nothing else says the GOP is screwed, twisted and flapping in the breeze then that title definitely does.  Honestly, at this point, if they are so clueless and incapable of understanding that their biggest problem is being more inclusive, then there is no hope of them ever being a viable party.  Here let me provide some stats regarding the wonderful GOP and their inclusiveness:

Its Congressional representation is nearly uniformly white, and overwhelmingly male. So much so, in fact, that there is not one single African-American GOP member of Congress (out of 219 or 220); nor, for that matter, are there any black GOP Governors (out of 22). There are just four Republican Latinos in Congress, all Florida Cuban-Americans; one of them, Senator Mel Martinez, has announced his retirement. He is the only non-white or Hispanic GOP Senator. [Read the full post here, the title above post is here]

The GOP, right now, is just down right pathetic.  They have been, at best, pitiful in their attempts to be more inclusive.  Instead of sending out CDs with Barack the Magic Negro, they should have been thinking in terms of how to move away from right wing extremism that caters to this type of exclusion.

I’ve heard of soul searching; but, if you are aware of the problem then why go backwards?  I would think after these many months (almost 2) the message should have been loud and clear why they suffered another defeat.

True, Bush has numbed the American people with his constant going to level Orange, for no apparent reason, to the point that we barely listen to threats anymore.   But no, it was not Bush alone.  People are tired of the whole scare tactic that was continuously being proffered by the GOP with its inclusion of, none too subtle, insinuations.  The constant inferring of all kinds of sinister acts by their opponents has become outdated, stale and ancient.

But let me digress for a moment, I would be remiss if I did not mention that while Americans are losing their homes, jobs, 401(K)s and looking for real answers, the GOP is still pushing racism in all its fabulous glory.

When a 19 year-old white supremacist recently gained a seat on the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee, the election created such an outcry that embarrassed local politicians used a technicality to block his seating. The entire process was buffoonish, although the views of the spawn of a grand wizard of the KKK and his supporters were not.

The GOP needs to confront their biggest problem (or should I say beast?).  The American people have real problems.  We are no longer willing to listen to nonsense while life is turning upside down.

Whether the GOP likes it or not, they are now known as the party of out of touch game players.  They seem totally unable to deal with the fact that no one have time for game players when people could lose their jobs; and, if nothing exemplified their ignorance towards reality, than their fight with the auto workers (not the CEOs mind you) showed us that the GOP is a few eons away from real reality.

Sorry but the GOP get no points for ‘Soul Searching After Racist Song.’  The elections have been over long enough for some sense of direction to have been formulated by the GOP.  To hear that the GOP is once again going back to the drawing board only signifies that they are afraid to enact a real cure and let go of bigoted bias beliefs.  It is now time for solving what ails the people and not what ails the GOP.

It was inevitable that life could not stay the good old boys club forever.  That life has passed.  Either the GOP will join the human race in the 21st century or become extinct.

A Kid or a Murderer?

December 29, 2008

This story caught my attention because of the person’s age and the brutality of the crime.  It’s being reported that a 15 year old, Sharell Butler of the Bronx, NY, is being held and charged for 2 separate murders.

Sharell Butler

Sharell Butler

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in the stabbing of a man whose dismembered body was found stuffed in a garbage bag in the Bronx – and in a second unrelated murder.

Baby-faced Sharell Butler, known by pals as “Lady Red,” was charged with murder, manslaughter and assault in the death of John Hopkins Drago, the adopted Russian son of a Bronx family.

Butler, of the Bronx, was also charged with second-degree murder and robbery in a Dec. 19 home invasion that led to the fatal shooting of a Throgs Neck man whom she and another suspect had intended to rob. [Read the full article here]

Of course we must operate under the premise of innocent until proven guilty, but if any of it is true, how depraved.  Her father is claiming she is innocent.  Most parents do make that claim.

The news is reporting that Sharell is known as Lady Red on the street and is apart of the notorious gang known as the Bloods.  Where that information came from is not being reported.  Of course being objective I can not put too much faith in unsubstantiated speculation.  The people in her neighborhood do not believe she could have committed those crimes.

Residents of Butler’s apartment building in Morris Park were stunned at the news that the seemingly friendly teenager was responsible for two cold-blooded murders.

“She’s a good kid,” said one woman who refused to give her name. “I don’t think she could do that.”

“She plays with my grandkids,” the woman said. “She’s like my granddaughter.”

Of course no one really knows what another person is capable of until after something has happened and is proved.  Equally, since I live in New York, our police force is known for locking innocent people up based off of part laziness, sloppiness and a certain amount of bias towards a particular race.

I will be watching this story for its shock value alone.  I am fully aware that a 15 year old can commit some of the most hideous crimes absence any remorse, but until there is more substantiated information given by our police department on how this young lady is connected, I think I’ll stay with being undecided for now.

Revisionists Are Still Trying…

December 29, 2008
I'd call them the 3 Stooges if doing so didn't insult the real Stooges.

I'd call them the 3 Stooges if doing so didn't insult the real Stooges.

I must commend and send my condolences to Laura Bush for the monumental effort she put forth yesterday in attempting to rewrite history for her husband, George W. Bush.  I must also extend the same sympathy to Condoleezza Rice for her efforts towards the same endeavor.  Both women gave it their best try.

The two most influential women in President George W. Bush’s White House — first lady Laura Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice — are strongly defending the president’s legacy against critics who are calling his administration one of the worst in history.

“I know it’s not, and so I don’t really feel like I need to respond to people that view it that way,” Mrs. Bush said in an interview that aired Sunday. “I think history will judge and we’ll see later.”

Rice took a similar view in a separate interview, saying that claims that the Bush administration has been one of the worst ever are “ridiculous.”

“I think generations pretty soon are going to start to thank this president for what he’s done. This generation will,” Rice said. [Read the full article here]

Of course the ridiculousness of Laura and Condoleezza believing, or pretending to believe, that somewhere in the future — many generations from now — the world will view Bush in a much softer light only makes their efforts that much more asinine.

Once Bush is looked back on, no matter the generation, the economic meltdown, the blot of GITMO, the Iraq pointless war and all the YouTube episodes of ineptitude’s committed by this administration will be revisited as well.  There will be one of two perceptions that will rule; either Bush and company will be viewed as criminals or as a joke.

…Bush, Cheney and Rice will never get credit for any future progress because of it. They need accept that the best they can hope for is to end up among history’s inept clowns instead of history’s villains. It’s not much, but it’s all they’ve got. [Read the full post here]

Nightly Sign off Entertainment: Earth, Wind & Fire – Reasons

For tonight’s sign off I’ve decided to go with a classic. Earth, Wind & Fire singing Reasons.  This song seem to fit the bill of what I was looking for. I’ve always loved this song. Next time I’ll go for straight jazz.  This one is a mixture of both.

Yet, this is nice and comforting for the soul, heart and mind.  Have a good night everyone.

60 Minutes — Obama’s Road to the White House

December 29, 2008

Here’s a 60 minutes’ special that came on Sunday night. Its a behind the scene look at President Obama’s road to the white house. This was a very interesting interview and I quite enjoyed it

I did note that President Obama looked a lot younger during the beginning of the interview then he looks now. I’d say the campaign did take it’s toll.

The funniest part is when the reporter mentioned that some Blacks think that President Obama was not black enough. They got that wrong.  No, the problem was some of us thought he was too black and was scared he could never be perceived for who he was. Guess what? The people got it and saw him as a man of the people. Unlike a man of the establishment.

Though my feelings for McCain has reverted back to what they were before the ugliness of the general election, McCain was still a man of the establishment.  I see hope with President Obama being possibly realized and with Joe Biden by his side they will get it done.  Sorry McCain, I like you, but I did not see hope and with Palin beside you I only saw a disaster in the making.
