Last Post of the Night: Closing on Two Subjects

February 5, 2009

I am going to call it a night (since I must go to work in the morning) discussing the quackery of the republicans and the media over the stimulus bill, and something I read earlier that compared President Bush sitting in a chair reading to second graders and President Obama reading to second graders.

First let me deal with the stimulus.  It is, once again, becoming embarrassing that we Americans are being portrayed as stupid.  Our new president has had the foresight to create a stimulus that covers both the short term and the long term.  Yet, we have allowed the media to voice every weak ass opposition from the republican party to an extent that the only words associated withthe stimulus bill is pork, wastful and garbage.  The media has created and promoted the acceptability of the republican –who were the ones that destroyed our economy with their trickle down non regulated nonsense – party’s premise that there is something wrong with the stimulus and that thought have infiltrated our every breath even though it is nothing more than republican regurgitated bullshit.  My question is simple… how long must we go along with this nonsense?  Until another 2 million people have lost their jobs?  Until every middle class home owner is in foreclosure?  Or, until people start dying?  When do we tell the republicans to just shut the fuck up?

The republican party have their idiot sheep (formerly known as their base) that want to continue championing the cause of stupid (since they are stupid) and they turned to the conservative owned media with their very not-really-liberal reporters to tell the American people day in and day out religiously how flawed the stimulus bill is.  Of course it doesn’t bother most of the sheep that the republicans are only arguing over less than a percent of the stimulus.  Either they are completely ignorant or so filled with bitterness they can’t recognized that they are being scammed.  It makes perfect sense to the sheep for America to stay in the toilet, after all the great one, Rush Limbaugh, told them so.  So what if the government didn’t do anything for them during a hurricane, flood, tornado, or any other natural disaster, they are sheep and proud of it.

It is, in a way, a public relations coup that the stimulus has been boiled down to, as one Hill Democrat puts it, “funding for the arts, funding for the mall, and funding to fight AIDS.” Those aspects of the legislation, as the White House points out, constitute a mere 7/100th of one percent of the entire package. Moreover, the size of the legislation is not even the most pertinent topic of debate. For many economists, the issue isn’t whether the stimulus is too large, but whether it goes far enough in producing a new economic structure instead of patching up the old one.

Critics of the recovery bill have also earned their stripes by arguing that the stimulus, by sending money to many different places, won’t be stimulative. The legislation’s authors respond that many parts of the plan serve a dual purpose: to spur the creation or retention of jobs while setting the stage for more durable markets.

As you can surmise, I have a serious problem with this current trend of adopting stupid (republican ideology) as the way to go.  After 8 years of doing nothing, I am in strong opposition of us continuing to do nothing.  Less government my ass.  After 8 years of no government — a mantra the republican party is damn proud of – and the American people being in the toilet for that ideology, I have a seriously low tolerance for listening to anyone suggesting that less government is the way to go.  I find nothing wrong with the government helping to erase the mess that a previous fucked up government created.  As a proud American, it is the height of stupidity to note that we have groups and organization that will reach out to save cockroaches, but on the other hand have groups and organization that will balk at saving another human being.  It is quite ironic that if the government dare reach out and help its people it is immediately considered to be socialism.  How utterly stupid in concept and intelligence.  Where is the logic in saying you want to save an unborn fetus, but when it comes to giving health care to the already born you will fight such a concept tooth and nail? It gives such meaning to our humanitarian efforts to know that we will send money to help the poor of another country while pissing on our own poor with every excuse we can dig up.

The whole concept of the republican party is dead and it is their sheep that they play their sick song to.  They need someone, any fucking body, to help champion their cause of we love you but its about big business only (under the guise of free market and capitalism).  I can understand the yahoos (goodness knows their bigotry and racism has blinded them), but what about the rest of us?  There are so many key committees that we can get involved with to help push the stimulus through.  Here are just a few.  But there are so many more.  We do not have to stand for this shit just because the non-bias (non liberal) media are trying to tell us, with their counterpart the republicans, what to do.

The Democratic beast have been released in other ways.  Its not so much that all of are extremist, but we are in love with our country and right is right and wrong is very much wrong.  We want justice and a sense of fairness for paying our taxes and living by the rules.  The shit the republicans are currently perpetrating have not one thing to do with fair or justice (only big business — fuck that).

My other subject of choice is due to what I can only surmise is the media’s way of trying to assist President Bush rewrite his legacy.  How…HOW can any one compare Bush sitting in a chair reading to second graders a book about goats while New York was being attacked to President Obama reading to second graders while not a fucking thing was happening, but Daschel bowing out of being the Health Czar.  Such comparisons is beyond logic and comprehension.  There is absolutely unequivalently no fucking comparison.  I am getting sick and tired of this Bush comparison that President Obamamust go through with the conservative owned so called liberal media.  There is nothing fair or balance in that comparison.  It is pure bullshit.  I live in New York and the two don’t even come fucking close.  When Bush was sitting on his, I don’t know what the fuck to do ass, I watched my world being destroyed.  When President Obama was sitting on his ass, not ONE REAL TERRORIST ATTACK was taking place.  So my question to this nonsense is simply WTF?  Are we really going to allow the conservatively owned non liberal media to call the shots on our common sense and intelligence?

I think MSNBC just compared President and Mrs. Obama’svisit with second graders yesterday to My Pet Goatand 9/11. But I’m not 100 percent certain. At around 9:20 a.m. eastern, Tamron Hall threw to Contessa Brewer who said:

CONTESSA BREWER: Tamron, this was something of a flashback for many of us. As his nominee for Health Secretary was going down, the first couple paid a surprise visit to a DC charter school to read a book to children. It was a trip that was planned, but not announced. After the book, the president took questions from boys and girls who are the same age as his daughter, seven-year-old Sasha. You make the call, but I’m pretty sure Brewer compared the event yesterday to My Pet Goat.

UPDATE:Maureen Dowd did it too. Eric Boehlert quotes Dowd:

On 9/11, President Bush learned of disaster while reading “The Pet Goat” to grade-school kids. On Tuesday, President Obama escaped from disaster by reading “The Moon Over Star” to grade-school kids.Sweet merciful crap. So Tom Daschle withdrawing his nomination for HHS is like a terrorist attack in which 3,000 people were killed. And President Obama reading to school children while Daschle withdraws is just like Bush’s frozen state of torpor while Americans were dying in New York.

Very serious! I’m so glad the New York Times and MSNBC are in the tank for Obama.

I don’t fucking think so.  The media is currently operating on the premise that we are center right.  I don’t think so.  If such was the case McCain and empty headed Palin would be who we were talking about.  Just like the republicans will find out when its time for a vote again that the American people are not so forgiven; especially to a group that think they can step all over us to support their nonproductive agenda.  As I so boldly stated a few days ago, the time is growing closer for pink slips to be given out.  We must remove the cancer we call our republican lawmakers, senators and congress and show them what the hell we are made of, and it isn’t center-right.

It is pathetic and pitiful to note that the so called liberal media gave Bush, who completely destroyed our world, a pass.  But now dare to say that they will be more critical where President Obama is concerned.  Translated that means that every non impactful moment of President Obama’s life will be critiqued.  Please.  Media don’t play concerned citizen now; especially if what you are reporting is in the category of bull shit.

Last Post of the Night: The Nit Picking Continues

February 3, 2009

republican-congress-largeThere seems to be no end to the nit picking of the GOP.  They are following their marching orders to the tee, just like the rats that followed the pied piper right into the sea.

I am so sick of listening to the “liberal” media back everything that the GOP is opposed to in the stimulus package.  Of course the GOP is opposed to anything that have any type of benefit for people such as STD prevention, abortion education and access, Pell Grants, condoms, and anything else that reeks of people orientation.  Never minds that preventive measures save money in the long run for medical coverage.  The only people the republicans will not complain about receiving such funds for the above are the Iraqis.

Let’s take a moment to flash back on the past.  Let’s see if memory serves us.  Does anyone remember the first Stimulus that President Bush gave us?  The one where he gave the little people a rebate check and then also gave…drum roll please…CORPORATE TAX BREAKS.  That was the mindset of the once high and mighty ruling the free nation and in total control republican party.  Where are we now?  Yes, in the fucking toilet.  What is the republican party once again screaming for as the solution for our new stimulus?  FUCKING CORPORATE TAX BREAKS.  Obviously, the lesson was not learned.  Just like a stone rolling down the hill that never gathered a hint of moss the republicans just keeping rolling on.

Let’s stop and think about this for just a minute.  WTF?  Either the republicans are serious about protecting the rich or they have no clue as to what the purpose of a stimulus for the middle class really entails.  They have collectively fell into a pattern of spouting the same shit that got us into this mess with a total disregard for their culpability.  That they have an idiot base that believes in their empty shit is neither here nor there.  It only proves an idiot can be easily recruited with key words in America.  All the republicans have to say is let’s get back to being fiscally responsible and the idiots fall in line.  Does it matter that for the past 8 years they have been anything but responsible?  Not in the idiot base ideology.  Let the republicans scream socialism (even though Bush promoted that position with a vengeance), or  let them shout nationalization, or welfare and there goes that idiot base fuming in an uproar.  Never mind that the ass holes are being played for jerks.  The idiot base just wants to believe that the republicans are sticking to conservatism.  Never mind if you go back far enough you will find that conservatism was synonymous with racism (still is in some corners).  Its all about morality, irregardless if none is to be had since the republicans long time ago abandoned real morality for the sponsorship of major corporations.

The only thing the rest of us get to see is the liberal media forever showing us how much the republicans are passionately against helping the people.  Of course it is not portrayed as that, oh hell no.  The liberal media puts them on every show around the clock so we can be reminded why we hate those fuckers.  Not only did they sink us into the toilet (or the abyss — take your pick), they won’t shut the fuck up.  I guess the republicans’ consolation prize is knowing that their idiot base is cheering them on for the brainless sheep that they are.  After all what else can you call people that believed Bush got his directions from God?

The Wrongness of the Bailout

January 25, 2009

I’m just loving how every republican is dancing to the tune of the failure of the bailout.  I agree.  The initiation of the bailout was in a republicans hands, Bush, how could it do anything else, like our economy, but fail.

Yet every time another bank comes to the plate for more (so to speak), I don’t see any of the GOP standing up to that being a problem.  What’s up with that?  What should I gather from this?  It’s a problem in theory, but not enough of a problem (such as when the auto industry was bailed out) that their is silence until bank so-and-so gets their money to abuse on junkets, redecoration and bonuses?

And this comes on the heels of Chris’ post about the former CEO spending $1.2m on decorating. And spare us the talk about how all the good employees would leave if they didn’t get good bonuses. Where would they go? McDonalds? There isn’t exactly a dearth of good employees, or a hiring frenzy, on Wall Street or anywhere else in the country right now. Their Christmas bonus was getting to keep their incredibly high-paid jobs, guaranteed by the US government. Something most of us can only wish for. This is truly despicable. The government should demand that money back.  [Read the full post here]

Can I please get a little bit more outcry from the GOP over this nonsense and less about less government, unions and corporate tax breaks, please.

GOP Tribute To Bush

January 25, 2009

WTF??!! I warned you that I refuse to pretend that Bush did anything but destroy our country. Here is Rep. Trent Franks and others trying to give praise to that bastard Bush that made sure that the American people (especially those that still had brain matter) knew how he felt. What is this? The GOP fighting the GOP? Is this a warning message for those GOP members that plan to come out and sign a petition that Bush was not a republican?

I know damn well, this is not a real tribute. For what? Bush did only one thing and that was destroy America by bringing this country to the brink of destruction and he gets a tribute? Are we now going to put up statues of Hitler to give him his props as well? How disgusting the GOP is in their confusion while trying to find their identity. Or is this an example of listening to too much Rush Limbaugh? What ever, this is pathetic and once again, so damn sad.

Keith Olbermann Breaks Down Bush’s Final Press Conference

January 13, 2009

Bush’s BS just knows no bounds. I am so happy that he is going away. I wish he would board a rocket and go to another planet…but, no he’s only going back to Texas. Has there ever been a president as stupid, arrogant, and useless as he was? I know we’ve had a bad president before but no one tops this fool. He had the nerve to talk about he hopes the people gives President Obama respect. Respect is earned, not given like free condoms.

I just can not give words to describe Bush’s asinine last interview. I can only wish I was on that drug where absolute dismal failure can be viewed as I did my job, ugh!  He dared to mention Katrina? WTF?  No, I will not say what crude words are passing through my mind; but, I will say, what most of us feel, Bush: Just get the F-out!

Well here’s a non-shocker…

January 10, 2009

scientistNow it can be not be shocking that a bunch of scientists came out to announce that the FDA is corrupt, mismanaged, wrong, twisted, F-up, etc. in a letter to our new president.  The FDA is the same agency that has decided they can not find whether its a contaminated tomatoes or a pepper that had caused our country’s ills.  They are the same ones that have decided mercury is now good.  They are, finally, the same ones that claim that a little poison is not a bad thing in baby formula.

In an unusually blunt letter, a group of federal scientists is complaining to the Obama transition team of widespread managerial misconduct in a division of the Food and Drug Administration.

“The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the scientific review process for medical devices at the FDA has been corrupted and distorted by current FDA managers, thereby placing the American people at risk,” said the letter, dated Wednesday and written on the agency’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health letterhead.

The center is responsible for medical devices ranging from stents and breast implants to MRIs and other imaging machinery. The concerns of the nine scientists who wrote to the transition team echo some of the complaints from the FDA’s drug review division a few years ago during the safety debacle involving the painkiller Vioxx.

The FDA declined to publicly respond to the letter, but said it is working to address the concerns.

In their letter the FDA dissidents alleged that agency managers use intimidation to squelch scientific debate, leading to the approval of medical devices whose effectiveness is questionable and which may not be entirely safe.

“Managers with incompatible, discordant and irrelevant scientific and clinical expertise in devices…have ignored serious safety and effectiveness concerns of FDA experts,” the letter said. “Managers have ordered, intimidated and coerced FDA experts to modify scientific evaluations, conclusions and recommendations in violation of the laws, rules and regulations, and to accept clinical and technical data that is not scientifically valid.”

Thank goodness we now have a president that listens to the scientific community vs a president that never really understood the bible but swore by it, ugh.

Who Life Did Bush Save?

January 9, 2009

clarke-largeIn a NY Daily News Editorial Richard Clarke, a former counterterrorism adviser to President Bush, harshly criticizes Bush for suggesting that he kept any American safe during his presidency and went on to say that it was no more than a Karl Rove spin story suggesting such a possibility. [ Ouch!]

Actually, many people are already dead because of Bush, and that is the point to keep in mind when he talks about his legacy.

Bush saved American lives? Tell that to the families of the 4,200 U.S. military personnel who have perished in the needless war in Iraq. While they served heroically and deserve the great thanks of the American people, the tragic truth is that they were engaged in a war we should not have been fighting and which was sold to the Congress, the media and American people with exaggerated and even false claims.

Beyond the needless American deaths that are Bush’s legacy, there are the Iraqis we almost never think about. Iraq Body Count is an ongoing human security project that claims to maintain “the world’s largest public database of violent civilian deaths during and since the 2003 invasion.” They say their data “encompasses noncombatants killed by military or paramilitary action and the breakdown in civil security following the invasion.” Currently, their estimate – conservative when put alongside other totals – is that between 90,253 and 98,521 Iraqis were killed because George Bush invaded that country. That’s thirty 9/11s.

Let George Bush keep pushing the buttons on the spin machine. That cannot change the facts. His administration’s actions on terrorism, including Iraq, killed many more Americans than U.S. intelligence agencies saved in the past eight years.

It’s got to bite just a tad when your own people are fed up with your BS that even they can’t keep silent any more.  The irony and humor can not be missed.  The thought that Bush and company believe that all their stumping around to every media outlet spouting all kinds of tainted crap is really helping a legacy that long ago got flushed down the toilet, brings new meaning to the words delusional insanity.  Might I suggest they spend more time digging in the sewer where there’s a greater chance they’ll find that legacy?

Wait…What? Gonzales is writing what?

January 1, 2009

Okay world brace your self.  Alberto Gonzales is writing his memoirs?  I find that supposition quite impossible.  This is the same man (see video below) that could not recall anything.  That being the case, what the hell is he writing?  I thought we brought books that had pages (plural), and not just a page?

Enough said.

Barack The Magic Negro Will Offend “SOME” People!

January 1, 2009

The leader of the moral majority, Bill Fu_ked-Up-O-Reilly, has spoken. I just love how he has two black hm…pundits even though one was a complete idiot to show how irrelevant it is to call a Black person the magic negro.

Keep in mind the word was first published by a Black writer from the NYT.  Of course Bill the azz-hole Kristol comes from the NYT as well.  And, also, of course the problem is not that the fat pig of a racist Rush Limbaugh introduced the song on his radio show.

No, the only argument is that a RNC member sent it out as a Christmas gift. Saltsman, the politician who sent out the CD, is showing me just how inclusive the republican party is towards people of color. I guess we are all magic negros.

In fact I plan on naming one of my children “whitey is an ass hole” just to show I too feel that that the term magic negro is being taken way out of proportion.  I also am looking forward to releasing my own parody song entitled “Whitey was a slave owning rapist bastard.”  I think it has the potential of hitting number 1 on the chart of completely stupid and racist, right along with the Barack Magic Negro.

The Secret Strategy Behind Blagojevich’s Decision to Pick Roland Burris

December 31, 2008

The Blagojevich (“Blago”) saga continues to rage. Blago has turned into being the media’s story of the century. Never mine if the over playing of the

S. Whiplash

S. Whiplash

subject has some of us ready to shoot our TVs.

Now we are being presented with a strategy as to why Blago did what he did  –  picked someone to fill President-Elect Obama’s senate seat, Roland Burris.  Even after his own lawyer, Ed Genson,  said he would not being appointing any one.  I guess he lied.  Blago has now earned his place in history, right along with that dastardly villain S. Whiplash of Dudley Do Right.

The media will now be on the look out for all contributions made by Burris to Gov. Blago.  The media will tie the story up into a neat package of not one criminal but possibly two.  Hm… I’m sure most of the articles will come with the sinister insinuation of possible criminal activity, whether true or false.

Rod Blagojevich’s choice to fill Barack Obama’s Senate seat, Roland Burris, helped raise money for the governor on multiple occasions. [Read this nonsense here]

There’s sure to be room for a little racial tension as well; especially, since Burris is Black.

In a wild press conference where Gov. Rod Blagojevich introduced Roland Burris as the Senate-appointee to replace Barack Obama, congressman Bobby Rush came to the lectern and firmly offered a racial basis for seeing through the appointment. [Read more on this nonsense here]

None of the current chatter has made it easier for me to generate any real outrage, righteous or otherwise, over Balgo’s deceit.  I’ve become complacent over politicians being corrupt.  It did not faze the media, or me, when Ted Stevens got convicted and continued to run for his senate seat, why would we now get in a tizzy over Blago? It all seems par for the course of American politics.

TVA Coal Ash Sampling Trip

December 31, 2008

Just as can be expected, there is little being done to clean up the mess of the coal spillage in TN by the coal company. Why do we even bother to have the EPA? What is the point of such an agency? To protect the private investors of private companies?

That the city had the nerve to tell people that the water was safe is what is so disgusting. How in the hell can water that is filled with millions of pounds of toxic waste be deemed safe by any stretch of the imagination?

Of course now they are reporting that the water is not safe a full week later. The crap our current administration gets away with is absolutely scandalous and would make for a great movie if it wasn’t so real.

Gordon Johndroe on Bush’s plans to deal with Middle East crisis

December 30, 2008

Its good to know that our tax dollars are at work where Bush is concerned. While Israel and Hamas is in the middle of a very destructive heated war over control, Bush will be riding his bike and continuing on his vacation.

Yet, I have to listen to the news tell me how President Obama keeps saying there is only one president at a time and do so as a cop out?

Is it possible to get a refund? I want every nickle that I gave, via my taxes, from Bush for a job not done at all and continue to be not done.

Reporter: Mr President-Elect, Gordon Brown has called for a ceasefire and access for aid to Gaza. Do you agree the Israelis should now cease their assault?

O: Prime Minister Brown has my greatest respect, he’s a strong friend and ally. However, the US only has one President at a time so I can only urge you to ask President Bush that question.

See how it would work? That would put the focus of the American media back on Bush, who has refused to cut short his final vacation to help deal with the crisis. [Read the full post here]

It wouldn’t be funny if someone called me ‘Tamron Hall the magic negro anchor lady.’

December 30, 2008

For once the News has their eye on the ball.

Sorry Kate Obenshain but you are so full of sh#t with your assessment. The song, Magic Negro, was created by a conservative and played by a racist conservative.  The fact that the words ‘Magic Negro’ appeared in an article is almost beside the point.  That’s like saying because I saw a movie where some one committed murder and then went out and killed someone it’s the movie’s fault.

To pretend that the song was created to talk about an absurdity in regards to saying President Obama was not black enough is the height of stupidity. Rush Limbaugh, since I have no intention of defending his loud racist azz, plays that song to vent and promote his racist position.

I will give Obenshain credit though. She was right when she said we did not need our politicians dealing in such petty nonsense and that they should be out their articulating a clear message.

Impeaching Blagojevich

December 29, 2008

As we all know, when it comes to prosecuting mobsters and politicians the Feds tend to takes months if not years.  It might be next year or the next before Blago ever really gets prosecuted.

Maybe we should take bets on when the Febs will ever bring his case to trial? I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Blago to step down if I was a Chicago politician.  Remember Blago said he was innocent.

The Indefenseable being defended.

December 26, 2008

coxI’m sure that the SEC Chairman, Cox, is a nice enough person; but, how do you really defend 8 years of being a sleep at the wheel?  Madoff didn’t just happen.  There had been complaints regarding Madoff and his methods since 2000.  Just why did Cox ignore those complaints and decided not to investigate?

Christopher Cox, the embattled chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, is defending his restrained approach to the financial crisis, saying he has provided steady leadership as Wall Street’s main regulator at a time when other federal regulators have responded precipitously to upheaval in the markets.

There is just too much cronyism in our government.  Why would Cox give Madoff a pass if not for cronyism?  Or does this goes deeper?  A Ponzi scheme of that level had to involve more people.  Are we suppose to believe that only Madoff participated and no one else?  What the hell was the other people that make up his firm doing?  Just collecting a pay check?  There were no real investments being done.  What was the staff doing?

But in his first interview since the Madoff scandal broke, Cox said he was not responsible for the agency’s failure to detect the alleged fraud and that he had responded properly to the broader financial crisis given the information he had. Confronted with a barrage of criticism from lawmakers, former officials and even some of his staff, Cox said he took pride in his measured response to the market turmoil.

He took pride in his “measured response?”  Really?  Just what does he call the collapse of our economy?  Perhaps this is only a matter of not having a president that had a clue and without any innovative thought.  Or perhaps this mess goes a lot deeper.  One thing for sure is that Cox did not do his job and no amount of saying he was giving “measured response,” will make history depict him in a positive light.

“What we have done in this current turmoil is stay calm, which has been our greatest contribution — not being impulsive, not changing the rules willy-nilly, but going through a very professional and orderly process that takes into account unintended consequences and gives ample notice to market participants,” Cox said. This caution, he added, “has really been a signal achievement for the SEC.”

Sometimes disasters require action with calmness.  JThat was not something the SEC was doing.  John McCain had it correct…fire the head of the SEC.  Let’s look at Cox’s job description another way:

Maybe they should change the name to Insecurities and Outrage Commission.

Because the more Americans learn about the failure of the Securities and Exchange Commission to police Wall Street, the less secure they are likely to feel about investing in stocks ever again. And the angrier they get, especially when their portfolios are off 30-40 percent.

To put it another way, investors are suffering a loss of innocence. It’s like waking up one day and realizing that the local police department is either incompetent or disinclined to do its job.

The latest example to make the news is, of course, Bernard Madoff. Suddenly he’s a famous name, the guy who perped the biggest Ponzi scheme in Wall Street history. The price of the con is most often given as $50 billion, but no one is quite sure yet. Stay tuned.

Enough said.

I know we owe China a lot of money but…

December 26, 2008

melamine-china-thumb-230xautoHave we already consigned our country as second class?  What’s up with the FDA?  Why is toxin food and products being allowed into America from China?  The FDA just finished reporting, not too long back, that baby products with toxic melamine is acceptable?  WTF?

The FDA is really smacking home runs out of the ball park with their new attitude.  They also declared mercury in fish is fine for babies, pregnant women and children?  Why?  You can read about that absurdity at The Internet Post by Tom here.

I digress, that’s another story.  It is currently being reported by the LAT that there is a possibility that melamine is also in the fish products being imported from China.

Reporting from Los Angeles and Shanghai — Melamine in Chinese-produced milk powder has sickened hundreds of thousands of children and added to a growing list of made-in-China foods banned across the globe. Now, some scientists and consumer advocates are raising concerns that fish from China may also be contaminated with the industrial chemical.

China is the world’s largest producer of farm-raised seafood, exporting billions of dollars worth of shrimp, catfish, tilapia, salmon and other fish. The U.S. imported about $2 billion of seafood products from China in 2007, almost double the volume of four years earlier, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

So just how much kissing of China’s behind is required by our country?  There use to be a time in America’s history that we cared about our people and really could say this was the home of the brave and free.  Not anymore if we have a government that is willing to allow any toxin into our country at the risk of our people.

My only question is when does this nonsense end (maybe Jan. 20, 2009)?  Fools like Cheney, Rove and Bush think we really want to hear a damn thing they have to say about anything?  There is no rewriting this administrations legacy.  The problems are too deep and the horror of the abuse of people and power supersedes anything we have ever seen before.

Enough said.

TVA Coal Ash Spill Dec 22 2008

December 24, 2008

Now all day yesterday and today I listened to the water main break in Maryland that happened on Tuesday via the news. Granted that was a scary proposition and highlighted the weakness of our infrastructure.

Yet I am miffed to find out that after 2.6 million cubic yards of toxic coal sludge broke through a dike and ruined homes and 400 acres in Tennessee the story got no air time what so ever and this incident happened on Monday.  I think we have a right to know when an environmental disaster has taken place in our own damn country. No?

Toxic Sludge Got Into Tributary of Chattanooga Water Supply
Apart from the immediate physical damage, the issue is what toxic substances are in that sludge: Mercury, arsenic, lead, beryllium, cadmium. Though officials said the amounts of these poisons in the sludge could not be determined on Monday, they could (at the mild end) irritate skin or trigger allergies or (longer term) cause cancer or neurological problems.

This toxic sludge got into the Emory River, a tributary of the Clinch and Tennessee Rivers: The water supply for Chattanooga, Tennessee as well as millions of people living downstream in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. TVA says that as yet the spill (which they are characterizing as a mudslide or landslide, but frankly it’s still toxic…) has not affected the water quality in the Emory River.

I can’t speak for other states but this was not a story that got any kind of play in New York and I can only wonder why the media blackout?  This is a environmental disaster of epic proportion and will no doubt have impact for decades.  Not to mention all the million of people that are getting ready to suffer through all kinds of fake assurance until they start popping up with all types of cancer and/or neurological problems as well as dying.

Today’s media topic was Obama’s non-scandal scandal, water main break in Maryland and deicing malfunction at the Seattle Airport, which was the breaking news of the day.  Those topics played over and over on the cable news networks.  No wonder we barely know anything.  We barely get news reported.

Rove: Infrastructure Spending Is ‘Goofy, Pie-In-The-Sky Spending Idea’

December 24, 2008

I’m still laughing that this guy is still talking.

Now why am I not surprised that the infrastructure is something President Obama should not be investing in?  I guess the economist have it wrong as well.

In fact, prominent economists agree that infrastructure spending will help boost the economy. As NPR reported, “Every $1 billion the federal government commits to roads, bridges and other infrastructure helps to support some 35,000 jobs.” A Center for American Progress report found that a $100 billion in a green infrastructure spending would create two million jobs in two years. (h/t Think Progress)

Of course Rove gives this assessment on the only channel that will give him air time, Fox Fake News.   On Fox Fake News there is always an agenda of some sort or the other so it is neither shocking or surprising that Rove — the current great GOP guru  –  would be pumping up the usual GOP slop of cutting corporate taxes?

At the rate Rove’s, ex and now current Boss, Bush is deregulating laws we’ll need the stimulus just to purchase individual gas mask and water filters for every woman, man and child just to survive the onslaught of toxins that Bush has made sure can be legally dumped in the air and in water.

Another CIA assination or a real sucide?

December 24, 2008

I must say all these sudden deaths are starting to seem extremely suspicious at best.  I don’t know who is doing the killing, but this is just a little too pat. Call me a mystery buff reader but the Bush’s administration is just too foul for me not to give the theory in the video below a little consideration.

For too long we had become a nation that was way to complacent and have always preferred to believe our government could never do any wrong.  I think after Iraq we should all take a moments pause and consider the impossible.

Too what extent would people like Cheney, Rove, and Bush be willing to go to stay out of prison and keep their crimes out of the public’s eye?
