Freshman Rep. Duncan Hunter: There Is More Violence In Tijuana Than In ‘Iraq And Afghanistan’

December 3, 2008

Is every GOP nut sipping the kool-aid?  I known Hunter wants to make a point about immigrants, but to advocate that the murders taking place in Tijuana is greater than those that have died in Iraq and Afghanistan? Strolling around in Baghdad is less dangerous than Tijuana? Now who is not watching the news?  Must I list all the suicide attacks, rockets being fired and bomb attacks in Iraq within the last 2 weeks?

I admit that Tijuana’s drug wars are getting way out of control but comparing them to what’s going on in Iraq or Afghanistan is ridiculous. The bulk of the immigrants that come here have not increased our crime rate — GOP standard blame the immigrate strategy, unless you are counting how much this type of vitriolic coming from the likes of Hunter, Hanity and Dobbs contribute to people going out and killing immigrants.

I am not advocating for our borders to be weak but this type of let’s blame the weakest link strategy just does not solve the problem.
