Last Post of the Night: I’m in trouble…

December 20, 2008

APTOPIX Germany Obama 2008

Okay, I admit I have not given enough dissing over Rick Warren to make some of my online gay friends happy.  Yet, I have never ever faulted them for their opinion.  I have bashed catholics, mormons and a whole host of other religious bigots.  I refuse to believe that this is a case of good versus evil.  This is a matter of civil rights.

Yet, I have no displeasure against President Obama.  Unlike how I live my life, he does not have the luxury of standing on one pedestal and alienating all other groups of people.  I have the job of laughing at and acknowledging that the wing nut tribe are beyond stupid.  President Obama can not do as I do.  But still, yes, I refuse to beat President Obama down because he did not take my stance.

I’ve put too much in his being elected to believe letting some insignificant turd as Rick Warren being apart of the inauguration rattle me.  My goals are large.  Not only  civil rights, but for economic recovery, futuristic goals, job creation, health care, and education. All of that supersedes cultural wars, which, I might note, will always be there to deal with.

But I also believe that cultural wars have no place on the political table.  I want the whole religious BS to be removed from the White House and the political stage.  I really do not care what Rick Warren’s stance is towards race, gays or Katrina for that matter.  I have no expectation (unless I’m stupid) that he would be less than the bigot I thought he was.  Can we say part of the wing nut tribe?

Should I be offended that he called gays the equivalent of perverts?  Why should I?  I’ve acknowledge that he is another right wing nut with his agenda of reshaping all of America to kiss his feet while quoting scripture, no less.  Screw that.  He’s a bigot.  In a year or two or maybe three he could end up just like the rest of them, flawed.  Maybe, who knows, when he falls from his stupid pedestal of absolute grace like Ted Haggard, he’ll be making a movie about his F-up life on HBO.  Who cares.  I refuse to let the religious stupid rule my decisions.

I also refuse to make an issue of Rick Warren because my desires are large.  I would rather let someone I believe and trust help remove that whole barrier from the place it should not be — politics.  Hence, then  my job is to rally my culture to take it to court to make sure the point becomes moot.

So yea.  I will not beat up on my hope (President Obama) from assisting me in making the bigots stop from putting BS on ballots.  I give less than a second though about Rick Warren.  Who the hell is he but just another bigoted fart?  Does he dominate the whole inauguration?  Hell no.  I just refuse to give my new president hell over what was probably a strategic move.  (If at this point some one else wants to remind me of slavery, bring it bi__hes.)

I work in a situation where the racism is not blatant but none the less real.  Even with suffering through racial persecution for a great deal of my life, I am willing to tell anyone, I will work with my current new President to make a difference.  If he proves me wrong I will be his worst nightmare and admit my stupidity.

Nevertheless, I will not give in to symbolism that a person as stupid as Rick Warren represent.  I just don’t care.  Rick Warren is less that human life to me. Trust me, Obama has had to deal with far more racism than you or I and is very aware of the hate that the American people harbor.  Him and Warren may truly be friends for that matter.  What?  I have friends that are anti gay?  I flatly refuse to stop being their friends for that reason.  Some of them I have changed their minds and I am not even gay.  So what?  It is each individual at a time in my world.

Do I foresee Rick Warren leading, guiding and influencing my new president?  Please don’t make me laugh.  I almost see Rick Warren playing the role as the token negro.  Conservatism is dying and I relish the thought.

So bite me.

  1. I agree with you. I think people are making too big a deal out of this. There are so many people trying to get Obama to be on their side. He has a history of being inclusive and this is no exception. Do I agree with Rick Warren’s positions? No. Neither does Obama. We don’t have to agree with everything someone says to see value in them and include them.

  2. Well I’ve been trying to avoid this topic because I can see where the gay community is coming from with their disappointment.

I say look at it from their eyes…..lets say McCain won the election, and for his inaugural speaker he picks a preacher who was affiliated with a white supremacist group, but he was a advocate for stem cell research, helped fund millions in fighting cancer, helped bring awareness to global warming, etc, but of course he was core racists.

Would we be so understanding and allow that kind of person to be part to the changed we voted for?

    I think not.

I do need to say this….I am a Obama voter and I believe he will be a decent, maybe even a great president, but to over look someone’s bigotry at a time when we should be proud as voters that our hard work (for ones who also involved themselves in helping the Obama campaign in getting his message of change out to the masses) accomplished something that many felt they’ve wouldn’t have seen in their life time.

I do think Obama himself is a fighter for gay rights, and should reach across to those who don’t agree or want him as president, but does it have to be on a day that means so much?

The inaugural is a time where we should be happy that history is being mad in front of our eyes that no other western country has done.

But sadly it’s being tarnish with Rick Warren as a speaker on a day that we should be coming together on a positive note not with a negative one.

  3. Do you hate all Christians or just the ones that follow what the bible teaches? Do you think that Obama is a Christian? I know this is quite a problem for those that think Obama is a different kind of politician, but then he’s a politician. If he is a Christian, then it may be he had to fake his views on abortion and gays just to be elected by the left wing-nuts. Wouldn’t that be a downer?

  4. I hate no christians what so ever and yes I am a christian. I’m sure President Obama is a christian as well. But I do have an aversion towards all bigots and racist. I’m a Christian and have no need to hate abortion or gays. In fact I support them.

Those so called christians that are supposedly teaching from the Bible have a nasty habit of cherry picking and choosing what’s right and whats wrong. They zig-zag from the old to the new testament to make their point while they ignore any passage that proves them false.

The least of my concerns is that President Obama is from the wing nut tribe. I’m more concern with bigots like Rick Warren and et.al being forced to except other peoples civil rights. Right now that branch of the so called divine is busy trying to enslave a world to only go along with their values as if they were gods.

  5. So you think that the bible, God’s word is the final authority and it’s ok with homosexality and abortion. Ok, what about adultry and fornication?

  6. Just out of curiousity, do you believe you have to repent of your sins to be saved? Do you believe that after your saved you have to continue to confess your sins and that God will when asked to forgive you of those sins, and restore a right relationship with you. Do you believe Rick warren is a christian? If you would describe to me the way a Christian ought to behave?

  7. I am not a catholic. Therefore, I do not have to bow down to following the Bible via symbolism and grand gestures, I do not believe I have to confess my sins to any one other than God, I do not believe in purgatory; nor do I believe that I must relinquish my free will by following a bunch of opinionated people using the cloak of religion to promote their ugly bigotry. I do not have to follow the herd and start labeling people as heathen if they do not follow my nondenominational religious path.

I’m a born again christian and have no guilt in supporting abortion or gay rights. In fact I am very happy with where I am in life. I spend my time fighting for equal rights for all men and women. I refuse to pretend bigotry is acceptable because some one uses the bible to make their case. And as could be expected the first thing I get ask is if I believe every word in the bible is true. Try reading the bible in Greek (the language most of it was written in) and then come back and ask me that question. Trust me it is all in the translation.

What I find fault with is people that uses the Bible to promote what ever hate they want. I can remember very clearly how plenty of people used the good book to promote slavery with zest and zeal. In there eyes it was God’s will. Better yet, what about the fact that in the old testament the great leaders were having sex in abundance with wives — plural — and servants alike? Who decided the bible was wrong about us having multiple relationships? The game of the old testament is good only when it’s assisting in promoting hate is BS.

I refuse to be thrown into a draw of the pitiful self righteous just becomes its the evangelical way. Last time I checked we are all sinners and he who is without sin should cast the first stone. Well that leaves the entire human race out of the stone throwing game. I’m sure Rick Warren is standing on the same philosophy that had those good brothers pumping up slavery as the act of God and he is just as wrong. Slamming people’s life style is a cultural war that at some point will be resolved. I don’t see the bigots winning that war at all.

I find people really need to stay out of other people’s bedrooms and decision making. Should I have to make the choice of my life over my unborn child’s and wanted an abortion that is not the church’s decision to make. When it comes to dying that is suffered only by the one who will die. Not the church. Trust me, when I am dead I do not need the church’s advice. Let’s just say I have a low tolerance for nosy, opinionated, bigoted (and in some cases racist) people minding other people’s private business.

  8. Your converting me back to Christianity girl (your style anyway, ha ha ha). I see things so very much like you. Todays church has been infected with the right wing political ideolgy, hate and dogma. The church is indeed nosy along with the political right wanting to control dictate with law against personal choice and free will. Todays church for the most part in the US is nothing more than a scam with a bunch of illusionist at the pulpit. It’s ministers are sinister looking for the big break to become the next mega church. Pass the offering plate, buy my book, buy my video tapes.

Why is spreading and learning the “gospel” cost dollars. One can tell me for nothing everything I need to know to be saved the last time I read about it in the Bible. After that the journey is an indivual walk between god and one self. I don’t need no BS from a con artist behind a pulpet who’s only desire is to get their hand on my wallet.

  9. I am not Catholic. Neither is rick waren. I don’t agree with waren on every thing because I think on a lot of things, he just to liberal. You are arrogant and proud and with no sign of humility. You are the epidamy of a lost sinner. What ever happen to crucified with Christ. It may suprize you to know that Rick Warren book the purpose driven life is second only to the bible as an all time best seller, the profits of which all go to charitys you would probably support. The reason prop 8 Pasted in California is because African Americans Broke rank and voted for it. If just Obama voters had all voted against it it would have failed. With out repentance there is no forgiveness of sin.

  10. When he alone was left with the woman they wanted to stone to death and , jesus said he is without sin cast the first stone, he asked woman were is your accusers. She replied they are all gone. He alone could have cast that stone, but instead told her “go and sin no more”

Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God, in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that them.

  11. Superdave, you seem like a nice enough guy and I applaud your dedication to scripture. However, please know I am not listening. I don’t care how sincere Rick Warren is. What he is preaching — intolerance — is not right. We all deserve civil rights and him equating gay people to perverts is unacceptable. I know he thinks he is doing God’s will, but who in the hell told him he was? A bunch of bigoted right wing racist? The man does not speak for my beliefs and I will not act like he does just to keep the wing nut tribe happy.

I am not going to discuss with you the repenting of my sin since that is a subject between me and my maker and is none of your business. How, when, where or if I repent is really not your business. I am not taking applications for a new pastor, thank you. I’ve told you before I am more than happy with my relationship with God and refuse to be chastised by anyone, no matter their moralistic belief.

Now let’s talk about your facts regarding why Proposition 8 passed. As usual the blind and ignorant just keep getting led by the blind and ignorant that love to play the blame game. You can see the facts here: https://chamay0.wordpress.com/2008/11/13/the-colbert-report-proposition-8/.

  12. The Colbert report has nothing to do with facts. Obama won in california. If the people that voted for him had voted against prop8 it would not have passed. From exit poll data the African Americans and Hispanics broke rank and voted for it. Don’t blame conservatives for it. Facts are that 7% more African Americans voted for it than against it, making them the decideing factor in the vote.

  13. Jesus is either your LORD (of all) or he’s not Lord at all. Speaking of cheery picking what say you to the text above. Are we to tear it out of the bible. You stated above that you are happwith your relationship with God. It reminds me of that old bigot hymm “the question comes to me, as I think of calvary, Is my master satisfied with me”. From “I am satisfied”

  14. Just wondering on intolorance. Jesus said “I Am the truth, the way , and the life. No man comes to the father but by me”. Is that tolorant? Would you have me say (Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the gloryG of God;) For all are ok , and god thinks your just fine. What the bible says is in ().
