Last Post of the Night: Bristol Palin Gives Birth

December 30, 2008

bristol-babyI thought to end the night I would report non-news that still slightly irritate me.  Why?  Bristol’s mother won conservative of the year award for her American values!  Trust me this having nothing to do with an underage person having a baby.  In America?  So what.  I really hope Bristol and and her baby are doing fine and congrats.  Having babies is hard work.

I digress, It’s being reported that Bristol Palin gave birth to a son who weighted 7 pounds 4 ozs.

We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”

The baby’s name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, according to Jones.

And so the issue of birth control still is not a topic of discussion while uneducated teens have babies.

Bristol is taking correspondence courses to obtain her high school diploma. The couple has been together for three years. [Read full post here]

You know what?  I’ll stick with my mom’s values.  She had a problem with me be uneducated as a young adult and not having protection.  Guess what?  It worked.  My mom is very religious and certain conversations are taboo.  I can not dare speak about prayer being removed from public schools with out setting her off.  But, she was a realist and did not cater to absolute stupid.

Teenagers who pledge to remain virgins until marriage are just as likely to have premarital sex as those who do not promise abstinence and are significantly less likely to use condoms and other forms of birth control when they do, according to a study released today.

The new analysis of data from a large federal survey found that more than half of youths became sexually active before marriage regardless of whether they had taken a “virginity pledge,” but that the percentage who took precautions against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases was 10 points lower for pledgers than for non-pledgers.  [Read full post here]

I am so glad that I do not cater to the pledge of ridiculous that is currently having no impact what so ever on curbing teenage pregnancies.  Yes, I am one of  those bold moms that believe in protecting their daughters from STDs and AIDs/HIV, as well as unwanted pregnancies.  I speak freely about birth control.  My problem is that I am not adjusting to the whole concept that its okay if you are a conservative to allow your child to be so ignorant about protecting her/his self.

Forgive me for being a real mom with real American values (non-BS-conservative current values).  Pro-life only works if you are prepared to make sure life is created from real choice and not ignorance!

Enough said.

  1. Are your sure Sarah Palin didn’t give birth? LOL

  2. Greta post Chamay0. they don;t want birth control because they fear that would encourage sex, but as you said realistically, they will have sex anyway. Taking away birth control and the right to choose is guaranteeing that more young girls are left behind with young kids and no real means to get to college or a never ending stream of kids who need to be adopted.
